Acceptance

By using promptarc (the website at promptarc.dev and/or the npx promptarc CLI), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What promptarc does

promptarc is a local-first viewer for AI coding agent sessions. It reads session data stored on your machine by Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Cursor. It optionally lets you share or sync sessions to the cloud.

Your data

  • Local data stays local. The CLI reads your ~/.claude/, ~/.codex/, and ~/.cursor/ directories but does not transmit any data unless you explicitly share or sync.
  • Shared sessions are redacted. Before upload, secrets, API keys, home-directory paths, and AI thinking blocks are automatically stripped. However, redaction is best-effort — we cannot guarantee that every sensitive value is caught.
  • You own your data. You can delete any shared session at any time from My shares. Deletion is permanent and immediate.

Accounts

Accounts are created via GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account and your CLI auth token (~/.promptarc/auth.json).

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to distribute malware, phishing links, or illegal content
  • Attempt to access other users' private shares
  • Abuse rate limits or attempt to overwhelm the service
  • Scrape or bulk-download shared sessions without permission

Availability

promptarc is provided as-is with no uptime guarantees. The service is in active development and may change, break, or be discontinued at any time. The local CLI continues to work offline regardless of the hosted service's availability.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, promptarc and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, leaked secrets due to imperfect redaction, or service interruptions.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted on the feedback page.
